How about a LOAN? And I’m now getting child support!
August 12, 2009 at 5:40 pm | In Uncategorized | 2 CommentsTags: debt, loan, rent
My first child support payment should arrive in about two weeks. I’ll be receiving $800 per month, divided into two payments per month.
I had a second interview for a position that I applied for a while ago. My first interview was a month ago, so I’d pretty much given up on this opportunity. I did call to check up and see what the status was, and received a response that was something along the lines of, “We’ll call you if we’re interested.” A month went by, and they hadn’t called. Well, at 2pm today the owner of the company called to ask if I could meet with them at 3:30. YES! I could do that! So, I met with him, and I think the second interview went really well. He said he had narrowed it down to four people, and there are two positions available. Those are decent odds. Right? I should hear from them soon. (I’m hoping I hear from them first thing tomorrow morning, because after that, I have no idea where I will be living. I only have a home phone, not a cell phone, so if I have to live at a shelter [or in my car] for a few weeks, I will be without a phone).
With the news that I will be receiving child support, and with the 50% chance that I’ll be employed, I am now trying a new approach. I’ve tried getting loans through various sources, and because I have no income, I obviously haven’t been approved. Even the social lending sites that I’ve looked into require proof of employment. Now that I’ll be receiving child support, I’m trying again. But, the places I’ve called so far do not offer loans to people who only recieve child support. So… Now, I’m asking all of you. Is there anyone out there who would be willing to co-sign for a loan for me? Or is there anyone who has the means to loan me the money? Without a job, but with child support, I’d be able to pay back $100 per month and still be able to pay rent. With a job, I promise to pay no less than $200 per month. It will most likely be more than that, because I don’t have many expenses outside of rent and utilities. I don’t have massive amounts of credit card debt to pay off, and I don’t have massive amounts of any kind of debt. I don’t even have a car payment. Just rent, electricity, and home phone. For a $2000 loan, at an interest rate of 15% (which amounts to an extra $300 in your pocket, when all is said and done), I’ll be able to pay off the loan plus interest in its entirety in 23 months making payments of $100 per month. If making payments of $200 per month, it will take me 11.5 months to pay off the loan. The interest rate is negotiable! I’ll pay more, if that means I get to stay in my apartment.
Does this investment sound worthwhile to anyone? In one year, you’ll receive your money back, plus an additional $300 (or more, depending on the interest rate we decide on). There are services out there (like this one) that handle personal loans between peers (payment tracking, even setting up automatic payments – which I will totally do! The money will be taken out of my account automatically so you are sure to get it). If I can get a loan, I will pay for this type of service so that you don’t have to spend more money.
If anyone is interested, please let me know! Send me an email, and I will give you all of the necessary contact information for you to get ahold of me.
Please. By this time tomorrow, a family will be homeless with nowhere to go. My children are two years old and four years old. If not for me, then please, can someone help for them?

Thank God you’re getting child support! I wish I had the money to loan you… and many shelters have public phones and mail boxes so that you can give potential employers contact information.

Hi, I am in the same boat as you!!!! I don’t know your story, but as far as my luck finding a way to help myself (finding a job) I’ve been struggeling. I’ve moved to an area that is rural (Sonora, CA). Small community, and I’m not having much luck. I took a couple of civil service exams, hoping to get a job working for the state, and unforunately, soon after our economy was basically shattered, there are hiring freezes, and people having to take pay cuts or hour cuts, so new hires aren’t really happening. In fact, I think that some workers had to take IOU’s. To make it worse if I don’t go for an interview when they offer one, they can take me off the eligible list, and so I go even though some are far away and I have to scrape $$ to get there, hoping it will turn around, and things get better. I am so upset because if I could get a stable job like that I could actually support my family, and have good benefits, a retirement!! I don’t know I was looking for a child support loan and ended up here, I don’t think I could do what you are doing, but I wish I had the guts, more likely you’ll come up with the $$ you need than I will. And I only need $450.
Good luck to you!
